Compelling Reasons You Should go for the Tesla Model S

Electric and hybrid cars look set to be the future of the automotive industry. They haven’t yet been embraced on a global scale. But it doesn’t seem like it will be long before that happens. Technology is adapting and developing every year, so it’s an exciting time for drivers.

Tesla are very much market leaders in hybrid electric cars. Honda also announced they expect a release by 2018, and it could be available at www.harratts.co.uk. But for now it seems Tesla has taken further strides to dominate the market with its new Model S vehicle. Let’s have a look at reasons why this is the car for you.

Eco-Friendly

Of course, the principal reason to buy a hybrid or electric car is because it’s eco-friendly. Greener living has become important over the past few years. So people want to take steps to make their cars more eco-friendly. The Tesla Model S is one of the best electric models on the market. It’s from a market leader in eco-friendly hybrid cars. So if you’re conscious of the environment, this might be the perfect vehicle for you. Think about how much money you’ll save, and how much you’ll benefit the economy.

Style

If nothing else convinces you to buy the Model S then surely its style will? This is one of the most stylish and attractive vehicles on the market. Being a luxury motor it has been designed to evoke high class and opulence. The body work is sleek, shimmering and cat like. And the interior is jaw-droppingly elegant. Take one look at this car and you’re bound to fall in love with it at first sight.

Smooth Drive

When you’re thinking of buying a car, you need to pay particular attention to the way it drives. For a lot of people this is one of the most important factors. Well, Tesla’s new model is one of the simplest and smoothest drives on the market. You never need to worry about your handbrake again – there isn’t one! Instead, the car sense when you’re sat in it and turns it on. This efficient and effortless feature could become commonplace soon.

Versatile Charging Options

One of the best things about the Model S is the different charging capabilities it comes with. As we know, electric cars need to be charged in order to run. And this car comes with the standard cabling to allow you to charge from a wall socket. However, many electric car owners run into problems when they are out on the roads. And the good news here is the Model S comes equipped with a second charger type. This makes it simple to charge your vehicle while you’re on the move.

It’s clear that Tesla’s new luxury electric car has set a precedent for the rest of the industry. Other manufacturers are now going to need to up their game. The Model S combines the perfect mixture of luxury, high-end travel with a greener lifestyle. For this reason, it’s now perhaps the leading electric car on the market right now.

What are the Pros and Cons of Buying an Electric Car?

Buying an electric car can be a great move, but there is a lot to consider. There are cons as well as pros, so read on to find out more.

Pros

Electric cars are becoming popular for many reasons. The main reason for people buying them is the fact that they’re clean and don’t pollute the Earth as much as ordinary fuel cars. And not being reliant on gas also has its financial perks. One of the biggest costs attached to owning a car is the amount of money you spend each month on fuel. By driving an electric car, you cut out that cost entirely. So, you’ll be able to feel good about your environmentally friendly approach to driving and save some cash at the same time.

The fuel savings aren’t the only savings you’ll make by driving an electric car either. The starting costs of a decent electric car are surprisingly low, and many are cheaper than similar fuel reliant alternatives. Retailers like Imperial Car Supermarket stock hundreds of used cars and models like the Nissan Leaf can be found in good condition at decent prices. And then there’s the road tax and insurance to consider. Electric cars are often exempt from road tax and also tend to be very cheap to insure.

The drive you get is incredible too. You’ll be surprised at how satisfying it is to drive an electric car if you’ve never done it before. The electric engine is near silent, and the road has never felt smoother! They’re a joy to drive.

Cons

Charging the battery of the car uses electricity, and a lot of people forget that this isn’t a clean energy source. Yes, it is better than releasing large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere via your car every day. But CO2 is released by the energy companies that provide you with you electricity. This means there’s still a long way to go before we reach the point at which electric cars are a truly clean way of driving. Electricity isn’t free either, so you will be paying for running your car, albeit less than a fuel car.

Because electric cars are still in the vast minority, it can also be difficult to find a place to charge them. You’ll have a charging point installed at your home, but there might not be too many other around, especially if you live outside of the city. So, you could get stranded if your battery runs out and there’s no charging point nearby. This will mean that you might be a little reluctant to travel far from home.

You won’t reach very high speeds in an electric car because of the power of the battery. As yet, not many of these cars haven’t been built for speed, but that shouldn’t be an issue if you’re driving on ordinary roads. The final worry to think about is the issue of space. The battery can take up a lot of space that then eats into your internal space as manufacturers like to keep the cars small and light.

There’s a lot to think about before buying an electric car. Make sure you weigh up these pros and cons and think about how they’ll affect you before coming to a conclusion.

The Tesla Model S: Is This The Luxury Electric Car We’ve Been Waiting For?

If you go to Google and type in “luxury cars” you will have a plethora of results returned back to you! As you can imagine, the luxury vehicle industry is vast, and there is more than enough choice for consumers.

But there’s one thing that all those “fully loaded” cars have in common: they aren’t very good for the environment! Some cars like the new Jaguar XE boast about having fuel-efficient diesel engines, for example.

Any internal combustion engine will emit toxic CO2 gases into the atmosphere. One obvious solution is to drive an electric car. After all; they don’t produce any emissions, right? The big issue with most electric vehicles is range anxiety.

A typical electric vehicle can only do a range of 80 to 120 miles before needing a charge. You might think that, in a luxury car, that figure might drop down to around 20 miles! But there’s one car on the market that has changed that problem forever. I am, of course, talking about the Tesla Model S!

It’s a luxury car that isn’t powered by an internal combustion engine. Nor does it have a hybrid drive system. It’s a plug-in electric vehicle that offers not just tens but hundreds of miles of range before needing a charge. So, what are the car’s selling points? They are as follows:

Two charging options

If you want to charge the Tesla Model S from a standard wall socket, it comes with the cabling you need. But what if you want to connect up to a “type 2” charger? That’s no problem; Tesla also includes a cable for that too. When you’re out on the road, you’ll find it easy to charge your vehicle without worrying about plug problems.

Tesla are expanding their range of branded public charging points, dubbed “superchargers.” Depending on the model you buy, you can use these charging points for free. It’s also possible to have a fast DC charging point installed at your home.

Lots of luxury

When we want to buy a luxury car, we might look at websites like www.hunterslandrover.co.uk. The high earners among us might even get tempted by a Range Rover Autobiography, for example.

Tesla wants those people to visit their website so they can check out the amazing luxury on offer with the Model S! Land Rover offer hybrid luxury models. And even Bentley announced a hybrid luxury concept car last year.

But what if you want a zero-emissions vehicle that caters for the discerning motorist, and you want one today? Well, until you can buy an electric Range Rover or Bentley, there’s always the Tesla Model S.

You can enjoy such features as electrically adjustable and heated leather seats. A massive 17-inch touchscreen infotainment system serves as the central hub of your car. You can also add extra options like DAB digital radio and extended Nappa leather upholstery.

As you can see, you get a lot of car for your money when you get a Tesla Model S. The only downside is that it’s a vehicle aimed at the premium end of the market. So if you’re thinking of buy a luxury electric car on a budget, you might want to consider an alternative vehicle.

The Best Things About Buying an Electric Car

If you’re considering buying a car these days, you might want to think about buying electric. Electric cars are a greener way of driving, and they represent the future of cars. There are an awful lot of advantages to buying an electric car. Here are just some of the best things about them. These should encourage you to go out and buy one.

Cheaper

You’ll find that electric cars often end up being cheaper than a lot of regular cars. They’ll be cheaper to buy in some cases. But the main way in which you’re going to save money is that they are cheaper to run. You see electric cars don’t require petrol to run, and instead run on electricity. All you have to do is charge your car at an electricity port overnight, and you’re good to go. You will save so much money by using an electric car that it will more than make up for if you paid more to get one. It’s also convenient as it means you don’t have to pull over on journey’s to fill your car up with petrol. As the cost of petrol increases, it’s becoming less and less affordable. Going electric certainly makes sense in this capacity.

Preparing for the Future

When you buy an electric car, you’ll be helping the environment. But just as important as that you’ll be preparing for the future. There will come a time soon when electric cars will reign supreme. It might be quite a way off at this point, but it can’t hurt to prepare. Indeed, many car manufacturers are already taking steps to prepare, with the release of hybrids. In fact, it won’t be long before you’ll b e able to visit the GK Group and find hybrids alongside their vast selection of used cars. Hybrid cars symbolise the fact that many manufacturers know electric cars will shape the future. They want to try to integrate the green ethos of electric vehicles with their designs.

Greener

One of the best things about buying electric cars is the fact that they are eco-friendly. These days it’s important to look towards greener living. We need to look after the planet and take steps in our daily lives that will benefit the environment. One of the big ways to do this is through buying an electric car. Regular cars produce harmful CO2 emissions that are bad for the environment and pollute the ozone layer. Electric cars produce nothing of the sort. They run on electricity, not petrol and thus have no emissions. They can just be charged when they run low on electricity, so they make for a much more environmentally sound car.

Less Maintenance

A great advantage of an electric car over a regular one is the lack of maintenance. Electric cars contain fewer parts than regular cars. As a result, they are less prone to problems than normal cars are. What you look for in a car is reliability, and electric cars are reliable. They run on a charge so are less susceptible to poor conditions. With an electric car, you’ll likely find yourself in the service garage much less than you would with a regular car.

Audi Unveil BMW i8 Rival: The R8 E-Tron

The race is well and truly on to find the world’s best hybrid super car. Manufacturers all over the world are slowly unveiling their models. At the very top end of the spectrum, we have LeFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder. These are hybrid supercars that can produce nearly 1000 brake horsepower. That’s nearly as much as a Formula 1 car. When it comes to more affordable hybrid sports cars, the BMW i8 is generally considered the finest.

Until now, perhaps. This week, Audi unveiled its new R8 range. Audi’s first supercar was a wild success and the next generation looks exceptional. However, one model in particular caught our eye: the R8 E-Tron. It’s a hybrid model that looks poised to rival the BMW i8. It may even pave the way for a competitor in the sedan range against the Tesla Model S. Audi originally teased the E-Tron concept six years ago, and today it is finally here.

The Audi R8 was a revolution when it first arrived. Audi have always been respected in the world of executive cars. But, this was their first stab at a super car. Boy, was it good. The R8 was universally adored by car enthusiasts all over the world. The speed and power was balanced perfectly with precision and handling. The R8 is a joy to drive and the next generation looks even better.

Car manufacturers have slowly realised the potential of hybrid engines. What was once thought to be slow and inefficient has proved otherwise. Manufacturers are now using hybrid engines to unlock even more horsepower. With two engines, they can maximise twice the power. In fact, the fastest road car around the Nurburgring is a hybrid car: the Porsche 918 Spyder. The difficulty has been storing enough energy in the battery to be efficient. Audi have built the lithium ion battery themselves and it may just be the best in the world.

It is T-shaped, fitting perfectly around the engine parts and sitting low to the ground. That gives the R8 an impeccable balance and a low center of gravity. It is state of the art and uses fantastic recuperation technology. It uses regenerative braking to capture lost energy and divert it back to the battery. This technology is not uncommon. You’ll find it in top of the range SUVs at Saxton 4×4 and most modern hybrids. But, in the R8, they have made it more sophisticated than ever.

The E-tron’s real selling point is its charge range. Most electric cars have struggled to capitalise with poor battery life. However, Audi claim that the E-Tron will get 276 miles from a single charge. Not only that but it will recharge in as little as two hours. Fear not, there is no compromise on power for this range either. The R8 will produce a fantastic 456bhp.

We can’t wait to get behind the wheel of this new R8. Can it really compete with the brilliant BMW i8? As soon as we get our hands on one, we’ll let you know!

Editor’s Note:

The Audi plans to include “synthetic sound” E-Tron in leau of safety concerns about its silent motor.  The result is a really neat, futuristic sound like something you would hear from a Star  Wars pod racer.

Why You Need to Buy An Electric Car

When you’re shopping around for your next car, you should give serious thought to going electric. Electric cars are the greener healthier alternative to more regular motors. They also look set to shape the future of automobiles. Many manufacturers are slowly beginning to integrate hybrid models into their releases. And there’s likely to come a time in the future when electric cars will reign supreme.

Here are some of the main reasons why you want to think about getting yourself an electric car:

Cheaper

One of the most compelling reasons you should buy an electric car is because they’re much cheaper than petrol powered cars. Okay, to buy they might cost a similar amount, but the running costs will work out to be much less. Because electric cars don’t run on petrol, they cost a lot less to operate. To run 100 miles on electricity is much less expensive than doing the same journey with petrol. Another major advantage is that you won’t have to deal with the issue of rising fuel costs. Each year it seems like the cost of petrol is on the rise, hitting drivers in the wallet. But if you have an electric car you sidestep this issue altogether, and you end up paying the same price all the time.

Look to the Future

If you’ve given any thought to buying an electric car the time to do it would be now. They will only increase in popularity. And in the future there may come a time when the only cars we drive are electric cars. A time when you’ll be able to visit an automotive retail centre and drive away behind the wheel of an electric car. With the news this month that Apple has started work on an electric car the future looks bright. It won’t be long before electric vehicles become the more popular choice, and their prices climb. Make sure you get one now to prepare yourself for the future of automotive travel.

Less Maintenance

When you have a petrol powered car, one of the biggest pains is the constant servicing and maintenance that’s needed. Well, with electric cars you can wave this problem goodbye. They are cheap and easy to maintain. Our friends at Inchcape Toyota clarified that there are fewer moving parts than on cars powered by gasoline and there aren’t problems with fiddly internal issues preventing the car from working. As long as the battery gets plugged in on charge you should have no issues running the car. Think about how great it would be to not have to make that journey to the service garage every few weeks.

Eco-Friendly

Electric cars are much more environmentally conscious than their petrol powered counterparts. These days it’s important that we all to steps to be a little more green. Looking after planet Earth is something that is high on most people’s agendas, and it should be high on yours. An electric car produces none of those harmful CO2 emissions that play havoc with the ozone layer. As such you don’t have to worry about the harmful gasses you’re pumping into the atmosphere. Sure, the electricity must come from somewhere, but it will be a much less harmful source than petrol.
